Time and Opening Hours Volkssängerzelt Schützenlisl®
The opening ceremony is on Saturday, 16 September 2023 at 12 noon in the tent.
The Wiesn will go on until Tuesday, 3 October 2023.
Beer is served daily (16 September from 12:00): 10:00 to 22:30.
The tent closes at 23:30.
The Oidn Wiesn area closes at 11:30 pm.
Is smoking allowed?
No. Since 1st of August 2010, smoking has been prohibited in all restaurants in Bavaria. This also includes the beer tents at the Oktoberfest. Violation is punished by refusal to serve or even being kicked out.
Lost & Found
At the Oktoberfest, there is a separate lost and found office behind the Schottenhammel tent.
Taking beer mugs with you
The jugs may not be taken free of charge. However, you are welcome to purchase the steins.
As a souvenir of wonderful hours in the Volkssängerzelt Schützenlisl® marquee, there are our annual stone steins 0.25 l. You are also welcome to buy this in the festival tent.
Does the Oktoberfest charge admission?
There is a charge for access to the grounds of the Oidn Wiesn. The city of Munich charges an entrance fee here every year. This is automatically included in your reservation. You will receive the admission wristbands together with your documents.

By metro, stop Schwanthaler Höhe or Theresienwiese, for the Oide Wiesn Poccistraße.
Children under the age of six must leave the beer tent at 8 pm. Even the accompanying parents won't help.
Why is the Oktoberfest also called WIESN?
Munich residents also refer to the Oktoberfest as the "Wiesn"; after its venue, the Theresienwiese.
What can I experience at the Oktoberfest?
The Trachten- und Schützenzug is one of the highlights. It takes place every year on the first Sunday of the Oktoberfest.
The procession of the hosts, the opening ceremony, the Oktoberfest festival church, the shooting of the firecrackers in front of the Bavaria and - every four years - the agricultural festival are fixed components of the Oktoberfest programme.
You can pay in cash or with EC card with pin (note daily limit, usually only 1000 €).
We also accept credit cards (Visa, Mastercard).
Please always clarify discrepancies with bills with the service staff on site, later complaints cannot be accepted!
You are also welcome to purchase vouchers during the Oktoberfest at the Wiesnbüro, daily from 11 am - 7 pm. These can be paid for in cash or by EC card with pin (please note the daily limit of your bank, usually only 1000 €) and credit card.
