When does the Oktoberfest 2017 take place?

The initial beginning is on Saturday September 16th at 12:00 pm in the Schottenhammel tent. The Lord Mayor of Munich taps the first keg of beer..

Hours of operation at the Oktoberfest

Beer time
Weekdays: 10.00am until 10.30 pm
Saturday, Sonndays and public holidays: from 9.00 am until 10.30 pm

The tents close at 11.30 pm.
"Käfer Wiesn-Schänke" und das "Wine tent" close at 01:00 am.

Where can I find the tent »Zum Stiftl«?

The Oktoberfest tent „Zum Stiftl“ is between the Löwenbräu tent and the Bräurosl tent.

 

Can I smoke cigarettes or cigars in the tent „Zum Stiftl“?

No. Since August 1st, 2010 in Bavaria banned smoking in all restaurants. All the oktoberfest tents are included in this. Offense to these rules and can lead to expulsion penalty.

Where can I find my lost items?

The Oktoberfest has its own lost proberty office at the Schottenhammel-tent.

Can I take home beer mugs?

Beer mugs can be ordered by your waiter/waitress for taking home.

Admission cost for the Oktoberfest?

Admission is free for all the tents. The rides, food and beer must be paid.

What is the quickest way to the Oktoberfest?

With the metro the stop is Schwantalerhöhe or Theresienwiese.

Are children allowed in the beer tents?

Children that are under six years old have to leave the beer tent at 8:00 pm. Not even the parents can change that rule. Generally it is not recommended to be in the beer tent with the kids.

Why the Oktoberfest is also called "Die Wiesn"?

The people that live in Munich describe it as the Wiesn because it takes place on a huge grass ground.

What can I do at the Oktoberfest?

The costume train through the Oktoberfest is the highlight. It takes place every year on the first Oktoberfest Sunday.
The advent of the hosts, the initial pass, the Oktoberfest Mass, the gun salutes in front of the Bavaria and - every four years - the Agricultural Festival are an integral part of the Oktoberfest program

Is there an admission fee for the tents?

NO, however for a reservation the vouchers must be ordered.

How can I pay in the tent?

If the actual consumption in the tent is over the value of coupons which where purchased before, you will get a meal documentation for this amount.
That amount has to be payed on the same day of reservation either cash or with EC card (consider there is a daily limit of 1000€) or with credit card (Visa, Mastercard).
You can purchase coupons during the Octoberfest at the Wies'n office daily from 10 am -9pm. Coupons can only be paid cash or by EC card or credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex).

How can I work at the Oktoberfest?

How I can make a reservation for tables at the Oktoberfest?

Reservation requests must be submitted in writing to us.
Our central reservations office will contact you in written form to inform you about on available seats and reservation details. Please notice that we will not answer before April to any requests. Calls or text messages will not be accepted as reservations.
